The 500x Buy Turns Every Position Golden Before the Reels Spin

Push Gaming's Razor Returns opens on the machine first: five columns of porthole sharks and wreckage inside a riveted cage, with 40 Lines read left to right and only the highest-value combination paid on each line. That constraint matters once the 500x Razor Reveal buy is taken, because the grid changes state before the round resolves: all 25 positions become Golden Shark Symbols, while Instant Prize Symbols are excluded from line wins and counted only inside that feature. The reels do not leave the format; they narrow it, spinning each position through Instant Prize, Multiplier, Collector, Converter and Torpedo outcomes, with any converted paying symbols turning back when the feature ends.

Launching the game and placing a bet

A riveted 5x5 reel cage floats in a shark-infested wreck in Razor Returns. The objective is matching symbols across the 40 fixed Lines; the loop is one paid spin that either settles or branches only when Mystery Symbols or Torpedo Symbols appear.

  1. Enter the Base Game

If the splash is showing, choose CLICK TO CONTINUE. The reel set appears in the Base Game with Balance, WIN and Total Bet in the bottom bar, and the Spin control is ready.

  2. Start one paid spin

Press the Spin control once. The 5x5 reels spin and settle; line wins are read on the 40 fixed Lines, and a screen press or the space bar only skips certain animations.

  3. Read the completed round

Matching symbols pay from the leftmost reel, and the WIN field prints any payout. With no Mystery Symbol or Torpedo Symbol branch pending, the round ends with Total Bet still set and the Spin control available for the next cycle.

Playing smart: bankroll and volatility

A switch above the bet ladder, a red-ringed star button on the right edge, and a rack of torpedo drums: Razor Returns puts three deliberate choices in your hands at three separate moments. Two carry printed return figures you can read before you decide; the third prices a benefit the rules never quantify, and each stays locked until its stated point.

  1. Each buy tile commits a multiple and a return band

On the bonus buy list, each tile commits a fixed multiple of the Base Bet before the reels turn, and the five print different return bands. The 106x 3-torpedo entry starts the Total Multiplier at x1; the 550x 5-torpedo entry starts at x25, the list's highest tier. The 200x Random tile charges without revealing the tier first. Bands describe long-run return, not one feature.

  2. Collect banks the multiplier; gambling risks the award

The wheel appears before the first spin after every Free Spins award, purchases included. Collect banks the Total Multiplier in hand; Gamble puts the whole award on unprinted segment odds. No Prize forfeits the feature; five successful gambles is the cap. With Push Bet off, the printed table shows 96.55% for never gambling and 96.24% for always gambling, long-run figures, not one wheel's result.

  3. Push Bet prices an unquantified trigger boost at 10%

The Push Bet toggle above the bet ladder is set before a round and adds 10% to the Base Bet. Wins stay evaluated against the Base Bet, so lines pay the same while every spin costs more. The rules tie the surcharge to a higher trigger chance for Free Spins but print no number, and the table holds 96.55% either way. It switches off only at round's end, or once Autoplay is stopped first.

How the game plays out

Two buy tiles fix the fastest way in; the rest of the chain decides how the feature is reached, with the base round supplying torpedoes, Push Bet changing their odds, the awarded spins setting the multiplier, and the gamble wheel keeping, raising or cancelling that start.

Base GameThe playfield is a 5x5 grid with five symbols on each reel, scored across 40 fixed lines from the left edge. Only the best combination on a line pays, separate lines add, and the payout is measured against the Total Bet rather than a per-line amount.
Push BetThis switch sits on the stake before a round: turning it on raises the Base Bet by 10%, so 0.50 fun becomes 0.55 fun, while raising the chance that torpedoes trigger the feature. Wins are still figured from the Base Bet, and it can be switched off only after the round ends.
Free Spins FeatureThree, four or five torpedoes anywhere start this round at Total Multiplier x1, x5 or x25; reels 2 and 4 begin packed with 10 Mystery Symbols. Each spin moves those symbols down one row, the nudges raise the multiplier by 1 except the final clearing nudge, and play continues until none remain.
Gamble FeatureIt appears only after the feature has been awarded and before the first free spin: collect the current prize, or spin the wheel for a higher one, with up to five successful gambles. A No Prize result forfeits the feature and returns play to the base state, and the choice measurably shifts RTP.
Buy 3 Torpedo Free SpinsThis tile buys the 3-torpedo tier directly: pay 106x the Base Bet to enter with Total Multiplier x1, so the feature begins without waiting for torpedoes to land. The post-award wheel can still be offered before the first spin.
Buy 4 Torpedo Free SpinsThis is the higher fixed tier rather than a separate round: pay 186x the Base Bet to enter with Total Multiplier x5, so the same post-award gamble decision is reached with a stronger starting multiplier.

What we think

Strengths

  • The 5x5, 40-line machine prints its paytable, 96.55% RTP and 100,000x cap before you commit a stake.
  • Its accelerators stay inside the reel maths: Push Bet adds 10% for a better feature chance, and buys print returns.

What could be better

  • The best line pay is 12.5x for five Wilds, so high volatility can bleed the balance between features.
  • After free spins are awarded, the gamble wheel can erase the feature and always gambling cuts RTP to 96.24% or lower.

What you notice first is a proper reel machine, not a one-button round: five columns, 40 fixed lines, a paytable you can read before staking, and a shark bonus that grows out of those reels. The cost is concentration. Ordinary lines pay modestly, volatility is high, and the post-feature gamble can hand back the prize you just won, so the printed ladder matters more than the splash screen.
